With any natural wood, you can expect natural imperfections like knots, knot holes, and grain textures. But not every wood species is prone to these beauty marks. For example, if you like the idea of these lovely blemishes, you might opt for Alder or Pine. But if your goal is a perfectly smooth, creamy look, you might choose White Oak, Maple or Walnut.
