Our ultra-thick floating wall shelves in your choice of walnut, alder, white oak, pine, or maple add visual interest to your living spaces - and serious storage and display space, too.
Holding 30 to 40 pounds each, our custom floating shelves are 3-inches tall and handmade in our woodshop in Olathe, Kansas. The hidden bracket nested inside the shelf itself is invisible after installation for a clean, bespoke look - and you can easily mount them yourself, too.
Choose your wood type, your finish - including a light danish oil, satin clear coat, and a number of stains - and your shelf length, and our artisans will craft and assemble shelves just for you. Our team carefully packs and ships your new wood shelves to your home, where you’ll find uses for them in every room, including in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, den, and home office.
Looking for something a little different? You might like our industrial pipe shelves or standard floating wall shelves.
Wood shelves from J Thomas Home add an immense amount of character to your home.
The grain and look of different wood species means no two custom floating shelves are identical. This is a natural result of working with a natural product!
At J Thomas Home, each thick floating wood shelf we produce is made to order and handcrafted from one of five wood species of your choosing. Each type of wood possesses its own unique characteristics to help you achieve your favorite home decor style.
With any natural wood, you can expect natural imperfections like knots, knot holes, and grain textures. But not every wood species is prone to these beauty marks. For example, if you like the idea of these lovely blemishes, you might opt for pine. But if your goal is a perfectly smooth, creamy look, you might choose maple.

Further customize floating shelves with stains and finishes
Not only have you chosen the wood species you prefer for your new floating wall shelves, but you can also choose the type of finish you’d like on it. We offer a variety of wood stain or a water-based satin clear coat, and a danish oil treatment for walnut wood.
