Our paint-ready poplar alcove floating shelves create a seamless, built-in look between two walls, inside an inset area, or between cabinets. They’re especially well suited for shelves flanking a fireplace, custom built-ins, and kitchen cabinetry. Made from solid poplar, each shelf arrives unfinished and ready to be painted on-site, making it easy to coordinate with surrounding cabinetry, trim, walls, or built-ins.
Each shelf features solid wood construction and measures 1 5/8 inches thick. The open ends allow the shelf to be trimmed on-site for a precise fit with minimal gaps, even when surrounding walls or cabinets are not perfectly square. Shelves ordered with support on both sides include two hidden wooden cleats, one for each end. Longer shelves may also include an additional back cleat for added support. Once installed, the concealed support system creates the clean appearance of custom, wall-to-wall shelving.
Ordering notes: Select the appropriate length range, then enter the exact length in inches you’d like your shelf cut to, using decimals as needed.
