Rolling Out The Red Carpet - What to Expect From Our Design Process

So you're thinking about finally refreshing your kitchen table. Maybe you need more space for a growing family, or you moved into a new home and your existing table is no longer suitable for the space. Follow along for an inside look of what you should expect from the start to finish process at J Thomas Home! We don't like surprises around here 😊 and we want you to know exactly what you will experience when you walk through the doors of our design showroom! 



The J Thomas Home Experience:  

We might be a *touch* biased, but we think that one of the best aspects of our business is our genuine focus on customer service. From our first interaction, through delivery, and any questions you may have down the road, we'll do our very best to make the entire design and purchase experience fun and relaxing. You're about to create a piece of furniture to last a lifetime, and we want to be an enjoyable part of those memories! 


It All Starts With A Design: 

Bringing in an inspiration photograph of the type of item and look that you are hoping to achieve greatly helps us understand what you are looking for and how we can best help. We are more than happy to provide our design expertise on our recommended wood type for your furniture and finish options too! For our design consultation, we'll also ask you what dimensions you would like, and if you are unsure, we will gladly provide recommendations based on the functionality and look that you would like. 

**JTH Tip** 

For a dining table, we usually recommend 22-30" per person that you would like to seat! It's also very helpful to use painters tape to mark the space on your floor that the table will occupy! That way you can visualize what your space will look like with your new furniture. 



How to Order: 

After your design consultation, we will provide you with a comprehensive quote and make sure to answer any questions you have! To confirm your order and set our team to work on your new dream piece, we only require a 20% deposit. The remaining balance is not due until your piece has been completed and is ready for pick-up or delivery. You also have 3 days after making your deposit to request any changes or tweaks to your design. We want to make sure that you are going to absolutely love your new furniture for years to come! 


Now, we get to work!

Once we have received your deposit, our team gets to work on building your beautiful piece! The care, skill, and passion that we put into each piece we create is just another reason why you'll love working with our team! We start by custom ordering all of the wood and materials just for your order. Our standard lead time is 7 weeks, which allows us the time to put our utmost care and diligence into our craft. It is very important to us that we allow the wood that we use time to acclimate to the environment once it has been cut, and that any stain or finish is allowed the time to dry and cure properly! 


Your Dream Piece is Complete!

Throughout the build process, we'll keep you updated on our progress. An amazing perk of working with us is that you have a dedicated team to provide updates and answers to any questions that you may have along the way. We'll be sure to notify you as soon as we are ready to schedule the delivery or pick-up of your item. We offer local delivery, or we will gladly assist you if you prefer to pick-up your item from our shop. We are also more than happy to provide contact-less pick-up or drop off for your comfort. 

**JTH Tip**  

Prior to ordering any cabinets, furniture, or décor, make sure that the pieces will fit through [all] the doorways of your home! If you plan to pick up your own piece, ensure that it will fit in your vehicle too. 



A Warranty to Put Your Mind at Ease:  

We want you to love your new purchase for generations to come, and we stand by our craftsmanship! If you should ever have an issue, just contact us and we'll make it right. All we require is that you bring your item to us. It's that simple!
