J Thomas Home Finds "Home" in Olathe, KS, to Continue Custom, Handcrafted Furniture and Home Decor

Are you ready for some very BIG, extra LARGE, really EXCITING news?!
*Drum Roll*
J Thomas Home has found a HOME!
At the end of February, J Thomas Home will take ownership of 703 S Kansas Ave, Olathe, KS 66061.
The former Budweiser distribution center is nestled against the back of the property line under a giant oak tree on an acre of land just south of Downtown Olathe. The nearly 10,000 square feet of wide-open warehouse is the perfect place for our company to continue handcrafting custom furniture and home decor for families and businesses in Kansas City and across the US.
It's not exactly a looker... yet. Built in the 70's, our transition from the two separate commercial workshop spaces we currently lease will be no small feat.
For Phase 1, "our first priorities are electrical and plumbing in order to move the wood shop operations to the new facility before the lease ends March 31," says co-founder, and company namesake, Josh (Thomas) Lorg.
Day-to-day production of custom furniture (like dining tables, desks, benches, etc.) and home decor (rustic industrial shelving, stove top covers, etc.) will continue during the completion of Phase 2, the construction of office space and an eagerly anticipated showroom, featuring samples of custom work and high-quality DIY products not previously available in the Kansas City region, including:
- The Real Milk Paint Co. paints, waxes, and oils
- General Finishes stains (coming soon)
The additional space allows J Thomas Home to incorporate the production of custom cabinetry, intricately-cut signs, and much more to our product line with the delivery of a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) router in early Spring.
"2019 is an exciting year for J Thomas Home," laughs Emily Lorg, co-founder of the home decor company. "Renovations start the moment we get the keys! Our team can't wait to be back together, all working under one roof again, and we are excited to have the ability to make the space our own."
"It's amazing to think just a few years ago, this was all happening out of our garage," recounts Emily, shown above after receiving a batch of J Thomas Home branded T-shirts.
The majority of the J Thomas Home sales are e-commerce. The products are made upon order, and then shipped to the customer. "It's going to be a lot of work to bring our vision to life, but we look forward to opening the showroom to get to know and partner with more local Kansas City customers."
Ready and waiting to hang this on OUR building, soon!
Congratulations to your building that is fabulous I am sure you will have great success and a bright future. Your work and customer care is outstanding !!
You all are looking so great what a smile
Best of luck for Josh and Emily !!!
