Wait a minute… custom-made? That sounds fancy. And by fancy, I mean expensive. And like it will take a long time.

Well, let’s address those concerns upfront. Yes, custom-made pieces will likely be a little more expensive than pre-made pieces in set colors and dimensions. That being said, the type of wood used and the design selected can help keep the price-point within your budget.  

And with current furniture lead times, we’re usually able to have projects completed within 6 – 8 weeks, equivalent to (or even a little faster than) the wait time of ordering from big box stores lately.

Scheduling a Custom Furniture Appointment

Whether it’s a dining table, built-in banquet, bookcases, or beyond, we want to hear all about it!

Visit our website or give us a call today to schedule an appointment.*

Appointments generally last between 20 – 40 minutes.

*While walk-ins are welcome, appointments are so helpful to our small team, as we may have other meetings, deliveries, or installs already scheduled for that day, and we want be sure we are prepared and fully-focused on you and your project when you visit our shop.


What to Expect When You Visit the J Thomas Home Showroom

When you arrive for your appointment, you’ll be greeted by a J Thomas Home team member, and likely meet with owners Josh and Emily Lorg. We’ll chat about your ideas, dimensions, and would love to see any inspiration images you brought with you.

Haven’t seen what you are looking for, yet? No problem.

We have several stain samples on display in the showroom on various types of wood, including Alder, Oak, Hickory, Maple, and Walnut, to help hone in on what you like (and don’t like) best.


Pricing Solid Wood Furniture

We know your time is valuable, so once we’ve talked through the design, wood type, and finish, you’ll be able to get back to your day right away. Our team will go over the details of your requested furniture piece and then put together a quote and corresponding timeline.

When the quote is ready, we can email it over for review, or give you a call to discuss any questions that may have popped up after you left – that always happens to me!

If the quote is agreeable, a 20% deposit is required to put your piece into production. We allow a three-day “grace” period if you find you need to make any final changes.

After the waiting period has passed, the materials required for your custom furniture project will be purchased and delivered to our shop. Natural wood needs a couple of weeks to “rest” before shaping it into a dining table, bookcase, or bench, etc., because real wood moves. The movement can occur for many reasons, including changes in temperature or humidity.

Your project will be completed within the timeline discussed, allotting several days to fully dry prior to pick-up or delivery.

Final payment is due prior to pick-up or delivery of the piece.

Delivery and Install of Customized Furniture

Depending on the project, you may wish for our team to deliver and install your custom furniture to your home.

Deliveries and installations are available Monday – Friday, 8am – 2pm. A group of two or possibly three team members will transport your finished piece to your home and install it for you upon site, making any final adjustments as needed to best fit the space.

Solid Wood Furniture Warranties

We want you to absolutely LOVE your custom-made piece of furniture, as well as your experience with J Thomas Home. So if the kids color with permanent marker on the table top, don’t fret. If the dog gnaws on the table legs, fear not.

We offer a FOREVER warranty – and we mean it.

We will do all we can to make it right for you. Just bring your piece back to the shop, and we’ll take it from there to restore it to it’s original beauty.
